What should I do if an outbreak occurs near me?

Just like people should prepare for hurricanes, people should be prepared in case of a pandemic. People should have a two-week supply of food, water, and necessary prescription and non-prescription medicines, copies of electronic health records, and a plan for how to take care of loved ones if they get sick.

During any outbreak, people should also practice good hygiene, like washing hands with soap and water frequently, to prevent the spread of illness. To prevent infection, limiting your interactions with others by taking measures like, if at all possible, working from home, is also recommended.
